Saif Karomi was born in Iraq and emigrated to Germany when he was nine years old. He taught himself the oud initially, but later studied with Naseer Shamma at the ‘Beit al-Oud’ and with Atef Abd El Hameed at the Cairo Opera House in Egypt. He currently lives in Berlin, Germany, and performs regularly in Europe and the Middle East.
